Patchy
Patchy is looking for a forever home through our incredible partner Pet Unity Project with the help of Lovepaws rescue! Pet Unity Project is based in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where there is breed-specific legislation banning pit bull-type dogs. If a dog deemed to be a pit ends up at the shelter, they have a harder time making it out because they can only be fostered or adopted outside the county. In addition to working to repeal the ban, Pet Unity Project supports pet parents in the community to help them keep their pets or find new homes when needed to avoid more dogs ending up at the shelter.
When bulldog mix Patchy’s family lost their housing, Pet Unity was able to use some of their Hansel Help funding to get Patchy up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. They found him an amazing home, but because of a complaint to the adopter’s landlord that Patchy “looks like a pit bull,” they were unable to safely keep him. Despite this infuriating, unfair circumstance, the community came together quickly and he found another adopter within a couple of days. Sadly, he wasn’t a fit there either, due to no fault of his own. Reach out and see more details here if you could be his forever! We are so proud to support Pet Unity Project and all they do for people and pets.
