Jamal

In early March, we received an application from brand new West Coast-based rescue Compassionate Canine Society, who were looking to save some dogs from the city shelter in Roswell, New Mexico. The Roswell shelter was experiencing a distemper outbreak and had recently begun enforcing a policy that all dogs would be euthanized after 14 days if they remained unclaimed. We wanted to help Compassionate Canine save lives last minute, and they did. Jamal was one of three puppies who — having only received one of two doses of their vaccines so far — ended up testing positive for distemper after leaving the shelter. Luckily, this sweet survivor remained asymptomatic and eventually tested negative. He’ll be ready for adoption once he’s neutered and can go to a foster to adopt home now! This sweetie is crate trained but still very shy and fearful. He will need a loving home that can go slow with him!
