Harley made it out of Lancaster County Shelter in South Carolina on her euthanasia date thanks to the tireless advocacy of our founders’ longtime friend Carlie, a kind devoted shelter volunteer and now Harley’s foster mom through Lancaster SPCA. This connection made it extra special for us to be able to honor our $300 pledge.
Harley is a loving, smiley, small girl — 4 years old and only about 30 pounds! She’s loving finally getting the love she deserves, but is still learning about things like playing with toys. Between that and the sores on her body, it’s clear she’s had a rough life. That ends now! Harley is going to be so loved and spoiled in foster and will hopefully begin heartworm soon.
Shelter dogs deserve so much more than to be judged or sentenced to death because of any indication of stress, dog selectivity, or treatable medical conditions. Unfortunately, that’s the reality in overcrowded shelters. We are so grateful to rescues, fosters, and volunteers like the ones who stepped up for Harley, who was born to be someone’s soul dog.
