Meet Banjo, formerly Max, who I have come to believe from his photos is about 90% tongue. He is 100% a good boy who deserves the best! Banjo is about 8 years old, 81 pounds, and was found in an apartment after an eviction, very scared. He has dental and allergy-related medical needs. We were so worried about him at the Queens shelter, we pledged $200 if a reputable rescue was able to save him. We are so thrilled we were able to honor that pledge to Ready For Rescue , who pulled him in collaboration with NYC Second Chance Rescue — the two will be splitting costs.

Banjo still needs help — a foster home to call his own! He's currently in boarding and needs somewhere more comfortable to go. Email Doug at readyforrescue@gmail.com if that could be you! He can arrange transport within NY, NJ, CT, or PA.

The rescue reports "Banjo is a gentle, loving older pup...He's a real mush with people, calm on the leash, and seems indifferent to other dogs at the shelter."
